Contrasting Disciples
Mark 2:13-22; Matthew 9:9; Luke 19:9-10
As He continued teaching, Jesus saw Levi (Matthew) and called him to follow Him. Tax collectors were known to be corrupt, and Jesus was questioned by the Pharisees about associating with such people. Jesus said they need truth as much or more than the righteous. He also clarified that His disciples weren't fasting as long as Jesus was still with them. Jesus brings a new era, with new ways and a new covenant.
